Brut3D

From blockout to game-ready voxels

Rough out a model with simple 3D shapes, turn it into voxels with one click, then paint it, split it into parts and export it for your game. You don't need to jump between a modeller and a voxel editor.

Why Brut3D
Voxel art usually starts from an empty grid. Brut3D starts from a shape.

Most voxel editors make you build every model a voxel at a time. Getting the proportions right before any detail goes in means either a lot of patience or a round trip through a separate 3D package.

Brut3D puts both halves in one app. You block out the form with real 3D tools, voxelize it, then switch straight to painting and detailing. When it's done, it exports in the format your game engine already reads.

Key Features
◧
Block out in 3D
Start from primitives and shape them with move, rotate and scale, face extrudes, edge moves, and union, subtract and intersect. Snap vertices together to line parts up.
Modelling
▦
One-click voxelize
Turn the blockout into voxels at the resolution you choose. Or skip the 3D step and start from an empty grid.

✥
Voxel editing
Place, erase, box-select and use the shape brush, with mirror mode for symmetric models. Layers keep pieces separate. Hide voxels or cut through with a clipping plane to work inside the model.

Palette painting
Use a 256-colour palette with paint, plane fill and colour replace tools. Colour noise breaks up flat surfaces. Erode, Dilate and Scatter effects add wear, and Colorize retints a whole model while keeping its shading.
Paint

Part Split
Paint which voxels belong to which part, such as torso, arms or legs. Brut3D works out the seams and exports one file per part. Each part's pivot sits where it joins its parent, so the parts are ready to animate.

Engine-ready export
Export MagicaVoxel-compatible .vox files with the palette, pivot and named markers included. You can also export OBJ for other tools and STL for 3D printing.

How It Works
01
Block it out
Rough out the silhouette with boxes, cylinders and booleans. At this stage proportions matter more than detail.
3D mode
02
Voxelize
Choose a voxel size and convert. The shape you built becomes a solid voxel model you can edit voxel by voxel.
One click
03
Paint, split, export
Paint and detail the model. Split it into parts if it needs to move, then export it to your game engine.
